For my first cigar review I have to go with my “go to” cigar, the Oliva V Lancero. There is something special about a lancer cigar’s long thin profile that feels nice between my fingers when I hold it. Now don’t be tacky!

The Oliva V Lancero is packed with flavor, and the smaller ring gauge allows you to get more flavors from the Habano Sun Grown wrapper. I think that’s another reason I enjoy this size cigar.

The binder is Nicaraguan and the filler is Jalapa Valley Ligero. This cigar comes in a natural vitola at the moment, but there is a rumor of a maduro version in the works, but you didn’t hear that from me.

Overall, this is a very complex cigar. The flavor profile goes from a medium body to full, but then medium again without becoming bitter. I can actually nub the cigar and enjoy it to the end. Being a ligero cigar, it is not overwhelming, but smooth.

I think this is a great cigar to suggest someone try, especially someone new to cigar smoking. I believe they will be able to pick up notes of dark chocolate and coffee flavors, which a lot of new smokers enjoy. Not too spicy or heavy, but a nice mouth of luscious smoke from a skinny 7 x 38 cigar.
